Founder, G2 Design + Build
The union of form, function and design has always intrigued Gary Gutierrez. Lego, logs and blocks were the foundation of his earliest design builds in the playroom of the modest home where he was raised. The house itself was always a work in progress; as soon as Gary could hold a tool, he helped his father to knock down a wall or rip up a floor. When the dust and debris cleared, friends and family gathered to appreciate the fruits of their labor: shiny new tiles, gorgeous new cabinets, a more welcoming kitchen and bathrooms built for a growing family.
Gary studied accounting and worked for many years as a CPA. As a tax planner, he helped clients save money for dream projects that often included remodeling. By nature, the CPA business is a crunch during tax season and lean the rest of the year. By now Gary was married and had children; he wanted to provide a steady income for his family and not miss out on their lives four months every year.
Gary dreamed of opening his own business and saw an opportunity in the trades. The Seattle housing market was booming, so he worked as an independent contractor to master his craft and learn the trade.
Project management was Gary’s forte. Over the years, he built relationships with the top craftsmen in the city. When the time was right to open his own company, Allied Construction Services (ACS), he invited the best to join him and kept them busy year-round. For more than a decade, ACS has built and maintained a sterling reputation in the remodeling community. As with any business, lessons were learned along the way and mistakes were made right.
While Gary takes great pride in restoring older homes, many houses built in Seattle between the early 1900’s and 1960’s are simply too small to meet the needs of growing families. Demand for modern homes is at an all time high. Custom built homes can take full advantage of the available space and view potential of a property. After completing several new home projects under the ACS banner, Gary transitioned his custom work into a new enterprise, G2 Design + Build.
